Secure Ballot Intake Station

Secure Ballot Intake Stations- Formally known as "Drop Box"

Rather than sending your Vote-by-Mail ballot through the mail, you can return it using one of our secure ballot intake stations (SBIS).

  • SBIS are available at each Early Voting location during the days and hours of Early Voting.
  • Each box is staffed by election workers to make sure that your ballot is safe. Every day we empty the SBIS and securely transfer the ballots directly to the Elections Office.
  • You do not need to use a stamp if you return your ballot by SBIS. However, your ballot must be in the Certificate return envelope. Make sure to sign the envelope.

Please note that you cannot drop-off your Vote-by-Mail ballot at Election Day polling places. However, the poll workers at your polling place can cancel your Vote-by-Mail ballot and you can then vote in-person.

Where are Secure Ballot Intake Stations(SBIS) Located?

Secure Ballot Intake Stations  are located inside each Early Voting site during voting hours. You can view the locations, dates, and times on our Early Voting page.

You can also drop off a Vote-by-Mail ballot at the Supervisor of Elections Office during regular office hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours on Election Day.
